The National Coalition Against Two-Child Norm and Coercive Population Policies, CommonHealth, Human Rights Law Network, Advocating Reproductive Choices (ARC), Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ) organised a three days workshop for grass roots activists from different civil society organisations    working in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Dr Abhijit Das and Ms Renu Khanna facilitated the workshop. Mr AR Nanda, Ms Anubha Rastogi, Ms Sandhya YK and Dr Suneeta Mittal were guest speakers.  There were 32 participants in total.

The key aims of the workshop was to build a common understanding among the participants on concepts of sexual reproductive health and rights and advocacy within the overall framework of human rights and to develop an understanding of the present scenario, national and local concerns in sexual and reproductive health and rights: policies, evidences and debates.

At the end of the workshop the participants prioritized issues including poor access to maternal health entitlements, poor quality of family planning services and lack of safe delivery and continuum of health care. The participants made advocacy plans for further alliance building in the states on the issues prioritized in the workshop.

The coalition hopes to contribute further by supporting the participants in strengthening their advocacy plans and taking forward the process of alliance building in the states.
