1. Working together? Convergence and Coordination related to the functioning of ASHAs in Chhindwara District  Madhya Pradesh - MPVS, Madhya Pradesh

The study was conducted in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh with the following objectives:
  • To assess the functioning of ASHA to understand the barriers and the motivating factors that has direct bearing on effective functioning of ASHAs.
  • To understand the convergence and the coordination issues of ASHAs with other village level government functionaries in the community.

2. How does NRHM help Tribal Women? A Study of Financial Incentives for Maternal Health Services in Heggadadevanakote Taluk, Mysore District, Karnataka - SVYM, Karnataka

A Study of Tribal women in Mysore District in Karnataka: The study focuses on access, availability and utilization of cash incentive programs under NRHM for women belonging to FBTs of Heggadadevanakote (H.D.Kote) Taluk of Mysore district in Karnataka. The objectives of the study are as follows:
  • To understand the awareness levels of forest based tribal women about the JSY and PA cash incentive programs under NRHM.
  • To identify the gaps if any, in accessibility and availability of the CIs for the forest based tribal women and the reasons for these gaps.
  • To document the purposes for which the CIs were utilized by the tribal women.

3. A Qualitative Assessment: Determinants of Utilisation of Maternal Health Services among Scheduled Castes and Muslims in Patna District - CHARM, Bihar

The study was focused to assess the knowledge of Muslims and Dalits regarding these services in Bihar. The specific objectives of the research study are as follows:
  • To assess the knowledge about maternal health services.
  • To understand the major factor responsible for the low utilization of services.

4. Continuing Concerns: An Assessment of Quality of Care and Consequences of Female Sterilization in Bundi District of Rajasthan - MANJARI, Rajasthan

Under this study  749 women who had undergone sterilization in public health facilities in Nainwa block in 2009-10 were interviewed. Following 3 objectives guided the current study:
  • To assess the quality of care provided to women prior to sterilization
  • To estimate the rate of post sterilization adverse consequences among women- side effects, complications, failure
  • To assess the quality of follow up care of sterilization services received by women

5. Needless Loss: Identifying solutions for making pregnancies safer through maternal death audits in Jharkhand - NEEDS, Jharkhand

The objective of the study is to conduct a research based study on causes of maternal deaths in Devipur block of Deoghar district, Jharkhand, in order to draw community solutions to combat maternal deaths in this region.  All death cases of last 12 month [March’10 – February’11] of women under reproductive age group, i.e., 15-45, have been identified first with the help of Sadar Hospital, PHC, ANMs & Sahiyas, 40 death cases were found, then conducted maternal death review with all 40 death cases and certified by the Medical Officer. Among 40 deaths, 11 deaths have been identified as maternal deaths.

6. Tied, Untied fund? Assessment of Village Health and Sanitation Committee involvement in Utilisation of Untied Fund in Rajasthan - CHEERS, Rajasthan

The study mainly aims to find out the understanding of members and the current pattern of VHSC’s about knowledge, role-responsibilities, functioning, utilization of untied funds and execution of activities in their respective area. Following are the specific objectives of the study:
  • To assess the knowledge of VHSC members about their role in functioning and utilization of untied funds.
  • To ascertain the level of involvement of VHSC members in use of untied funds.
  • To examine the current pattern of allocation and expenditure of untied fund.

7. Still Underserved: Exploring Provision and Utilisation of Health care Services from 24X7 PHCs in 3 Districts of West Bengal - CINI, West Bengal

This study assessed the functioning of the round the clock PHCs covering 10 blocks from 3 districts of West Bengal using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.

8. Beyond Delivery: Assessing Postpartum Care and Complications in District Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh - SAHAYOG, Uttar Pradesh

The study was an exploratory study, which sought to understand the postpartum care provided in home births and institutional deliveries in Rajgarh block of Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh. The study used qualitative methods to gather the required information.

9. Still some way to go: Communitisation of Health Services among Dalit Community - PARA, Andhra Pradesh

The study was carried out in Hyderabad, MahabubNagar, and Machlipatnam districts of AP. It focused on the assessment of ASHA activities at community level and to find out the barriers faced by ASHAs to fulfill their roles.

10. Adhering to IPHS Guidelines: A Study of the Health Facilities in Sheikhpura District of Bihar - BVHA, Bihar

The proposed study was carried out in one of the districts of Bihar to know the present status of Public Health Facility centers as per the recommendations of IPHS and as per the timeline fixed by the National Rural Health Mission’s Framework of Implementation in the year 2005.

Double Discrimination: Is it a Fact?

A qualitative descriptive study, conducted in Mahbub Nagar and Nalgonda districts with the following objectives:
  • To understand the reach of these provisions to the marginalized communities especially to Dalit communities.
  • To review the implementation of the policies, schemes, and programs related to the SC/ST PLHA.

Study on Village Health and Nutrition Day (VHND) in Bankura district of West Bengal

The specific objectives of the study are:
  • To understand the package of services to be provided under VHND
  • To understand the role of various department in organising the events at the village level
  • To assess community participation in utilization of service
  • To study the role of Village health and sanitation committee in mobilizing the community

A Study of Status and Utilisation of Maternal Health Services among migrant families of Rajsamand district of Rajasthan

The specific objectives of the study are:
  • To find out the status and pattern of male migration in Rajsamand
  • To assess the support of family members during maternal health care 
  • To assess idealization of material health services of  migrant families


Assessment of Village Health Plan and its Implementation

The specific objectives of the study of six villages in the districts of Vijayanagaram and East Godavari are:
  • To assess the knowledge and awareness of SC/ST about VHSC, their role as members, how they are playing those roles and what problems they face in playing those roles.
  • To  study how the VHSC functions with reference to dalit issues
  • To analyse the VHSC budget allocation and spending pattern  on behalf of dalit population in the selected villages
  • To conduct a needs assessment of dalit community in the village with respect to water, health and sanitation

Study of Functioning of ASHA in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan

The study had the following objectives:
  • To assess the  activities of  ASHAs
  • To identify the barriers if any in fulfilling the responsibilities as ASHA
  • To study the perception of community and health providers about ASHA and functioning
