Our activities are divided into three broad thematic areas and two strategic interventions.
The major thematic areas of the institution include:
• Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights
• Health Rights and Marginalized Communities
• Men and Gender Equality
With regard to securing Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights, CHSJ focuses on the social dimensions of women’s rights relating to a range of maternal health issues, access to safe abortion, counter effects of coercive population policies and Quality of care in family planning services each having its unique impact on improving or degrading women’s health.
Under the theme Health Rights and Marginalized Communities, CHSJ adopts a right based approach to target the existing disparities between populations, in the allocation of health care resources. The delivery of health resources has by far been traditional with the provider and the beneficiary being the two ends of the process. But CHSJ intervention facilitates the inclusion of the beneficiary also within the allocation process.
Another initiative of CHSJ follows in the theme Men and Gender Equality which offers to engage men in dismantling patriarchy and achieving a balanced, equitable relationship between women and men. Gender equality is a distant dream without men being an active part of its process. This fact is being unfolded through innovative strategies undertaken by the institution to include initiatives of men in achieving an engendered social setup.
Information Management and Capacity Building are the key strategic approaches adopted by CHSJ with the aim of connecting to a larger population and strengthening the process of evidence-based policy change.
Other strategies within the thematic areas include:
• Research in Policy and Project Implementation and Development
• Supporting Advocacy Action
• Consultancies
• Partnerships and Collaborations
