A learning exchange visit was organised by Centre for Health and Social Justice, New Delhi for grantees of the Macarthur Foundation, Nigeria from 15-23 November 2012.
This visit was planned in two phases. In the first phase eminent practitioners, lawyers; health activists shared their experiences through small round table discussions, presentations on policy, governance and accountability. This was organised in New Delhi.
The second phase was organised to ensure that the grantees meet activists, women leaders, community leaders and facilitators of the community monitoring process at the field level and hear their stories of struggle in improving services and programmes of government in Varanasi and Pune. In Varanasi the Nigerian visitors were supported by Sahayog and in Pune they were supported by SATHI. “ What I am encountering is beyond my expectations, the resource persons, human rights activists, etc are well chosen and I am truly happy to be their students here” Ahamed Salkida, Independent Journalist, Salkida@gmailcom
