National Civil Society Consultations on Family Planning in India

The National Civil Society Consultation on Family Planning was organized on June 8, 2012 at the India International Centre to deliberate on the outcomes of state level workshops held in 13 Indian states (Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal) organized by the Family Planning Association of India and its partners.
CHSJ as one of its partners contributed to the process in different ways. Mainly, CHSJ undertook the consultation lead in Jharkhand along with ARC and helped in facilitating the discussions in Odisha, Rajasthan, UP, MP. Further, CHSJ made recommendations in relation to the discussion methodologies and recommended expert facilitators during the National Consultation process as well as the state consultation processes.
In the pre-Consultation Meeting which was aimed to review the State Report Cards, conduct in-depth thematic discussions, prioritize the gaps and recommendations and provide an opportunity to all the partners (local, state level, national as well as supporting partners) to meet and share their views and experiences ahead of the National Consultation, CHSJ helped in the synthesis of experiences from Odisha.
