The Advisory Group on Community Action of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has recommended community monitoring for effective implementation of the programme and asked the government to allocate “realistic” funds and assess the human resource requirement for the purpose. A report presented to the Union Health and Family Ministry on the completion of the First Phase of Community Monitoring under NRHM taken up in nine States on a pilot basis suggests that the government should support community action including community monitoring to ensure that it is initiated in the other States also.
