Admitting her government's inability at present to pump in funds to overhaul the “ailing” health infrastructure in the State owing to a severe financial crunch it finds itself in, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked the medical fraternity on Monday to make optimum use of the available infrastructure and serve patients with a “humane face”. Ms. Banerjee, who also holds the Health portfolio, called for an immediate end to “politicisation of health services that was encouraged during the 34 years of Left Front rule” and to start afresh to restore the health infrastructure in the State.
