The Rajasthan Jan Swasthya Abhiyan has taken strong exception to a recent notification issued by the State Government revising the fee charged by various categories of government doctors and nursing staff for private practice, and demanded its immediate withdrawal. The Abhiyan said the new rules would lead to complete privatisation of health services. The notification for the Rajasthan Medical Officers and Nursing Staff Fees Rules, 2011, issued by the Finance Department on May 30, has revised the fee charged by professors and senior specialists to Rs. 300 per patient and authorised the nurses to charge Rs. 75 and dais (midwives) Rs. 60, making a phenomenal increase in the charges.
