The Madras High Court today directed a private eye hospital to pay a compensation of Rs one lakh each to 66 people who became blind following treatment in a free eye camp conducted by it in 2008. On a PIL filed by rights activist Raghu demanding action against the hospital, the First Bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam directed the Perambalur-based Joseph Eye Hospital to pay the compensation to all the victims within two months.
