The Delhi government is not only sitting on proposals for opening new hospitals, but has also failed to fill vacancies in the existing ones. Going by the figures placed by the health department in the Delhi assembly, there are more than 1,500 vacancies in 39 government-run hospitals. About 312 posts of doctors are vacant in the Delhi government hospitals, including general duty medical officers, teaching and non-teaching doctors.
