“The 2011 Census is an eye-opener and should be the starting point for converting the population stabilisation programme into a mass movement,” Rajya Sabha member Dr. Karan Singh has said. He was speaking at a discussion on “Implications of Emerging Population Scenario” organised by Management Institute of Population and Development (MIPD) this past week. The discussion was organised to discuss the implications of the provisional results of Census of India 2011. Highlighting the continuing decline in the growth of girl child as per Census 2011, he stressed the need for reforms on national policy for women. Read more
