Child marriage continues to be a scourge of Namakkal district. Five child marriages were performed in less than a month at Jambumadai hamlet near Erumapatty in the district. A revenue official, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of stopping child marriages, told The Hindu that a 15-year-old girl of Ponkurichi village in Rasipuram Taluk was married to a 32-year-old man of A.Natamangalam village in Namakkal taluk. District Collector J.
