In a major boost to the healthcare sector, total government expenditure on health would be increased to 2.5 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP) by 2017, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said. Women teachers appointed on contract by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will now be able to avail of maternity leave for three months, said MCD Education Committee chairman Mahinder Nagpal on Monday. Maternity leave was earlier allowed only for permanent female employees.
