New Delhi: 9th October 2013
The implementation of quota for poor patients in private hospitals, which the Delhi government claims to be one of its key achievements in the run-up to the assembly elections, has not been up to the mark. As per the data (real-time availability of free beds as on Tuesday, maintained by the directorate of health services), nearly 50% of beds for the poor are lying vacant in 45 private hospitals. This at a time when most city hospitals are flooded with cases of dengue and there is a crisis of beds.
