35% TB patients get wrong dosage: 60% Of Dosages Being Prescribed Violate Standard Guidelines: Study

Almost 60% of dosages being prescribed to patients suffering from tuberculosis — the world’s most infectious disease — in India don’t correspond with standard TB treatment guidelines. The figure is nearly twice the average of nine other countries that have a high burden of TB. Researchers have found that there were 70 different first-line TB drug dosages and combinations prevalent in India’s private sector. However, only 14 were necessary.
