Fathers Care: A Campaign for Promoting Men's Involvement in Securing Rights of Children in India
About the project
The overall goal of the project is to seed community level social change processes in different locations across the country where men start taking active roles in their families and communities for securing women and children’s rights and bringing equity. Through this project CHSJ seeks to integrate a child rights perspective to its existing work with Men on Masculinity, Gender Equality and Human rights.
A National Consultation: "Exploring the Role of Men as Fathers in Protecting Children's Rights

CHSJ organised this consultation on the occasion of International Fathers Day i.e. on 17th of June 2012 at New Delhi. Eighty five participants across twelve (12) states participated in the programme. Representatives from Feminist groups/ organizations/ forums and Individuals, from groups/forums working on the issues of Gender equality, Women's Reproductive health rights, from the organizations/ groups/ forums working on Child rights issues and the forums/networks/individuals working with men for Gender Equality and addressing the issues of Masculinities and Violence against women along with representatives from support organizations having concern and work on said issues shared their views in the consultation. |

The consultation gave an opportunity to hear, interact/reflect and share on different issues with regard to the possibilities of exploring role of men as fathers towards ensuring Gender equality and Child rights. In the follow up of the consultation, efforts are on the way to constitute a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) along with building/strengthening effective alliance and network at National level and in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and in west Bengal. This process facilitated an environment and action as a campaign that can ensure/protect Gender Equality and Child rights.
