National Campaign for Promoting Men’s Involvement for Changing Social Norms
Women from to tomb continue to face numerous problems, including rape, acid attacks, dowry killing, trafficking, female feticide, lack of education, malnutrition, anemic state and discrimination in variety of ways in matter of public and private opportunities. It is crystal clear that social norms, gender roles, relegate women in subordinate status and deprive them from enjoying their life in full potentials manner and being equal citizen. Among all factors for creating gender inequality, patriarchy and masculinity shows several dynamics in pushing women at lower and patriarchy at upper ladder of society. CHSJ, however, has already been working on contributory factors of gender inequality at community and state level, for wider coverage and showcase national level impact, CHSJ initiated national campaign. This campaign is to dismantling masculinity and patriarchy and creating community of new men and boys having sense of equitable attitude towards women and respect. CHSJ led national initiative is to consolidate and in the context of specific social norms and actively and visibly contribute to the larger social aspiration of gender equality.
Campaign envisions following specific set of objectives
National Campaign is contributory for CHSJ’s approach of working together to mobilize and strengthen the social activism of both individuals and institutions to transform patriarchal masculinities and other oppressive systems, which are deeply engraved in individual, socio-economic, institutional, and political structures.
The campaign is being implemented across multiple locations-urban and rural locations, communities, educational institutions and public/workplaces using a multiple Campaign Hub approach with structural head of national and state coordination committees
