EMPOWERING ADOLESCENT GIRLS AND BOYS FOR IMPROVING REPRODUCTIVE AND SEXUAL HEALTH THROUGH CONVERGENCE
Through this programme of interventions at community level with groups of adolescent boys and girls, CHSJ with support of National Mission for Empowerment of Women aimed to improving effective service delivery of government sponsored programme and scheme and ensuring access to information for adolescent girls and boys. Under the project, key potential adolescent leaders were identified and empowered by building their capacity. This helped them advocate for adequate response to improve services, respond to the government need to monitor schemes, benefits and services and provide inputs to improve services and advocacy activities to promote gender auditing process and ensure coordination with various departments, their schemes and programmes. Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees, School Education Committees and Mothers Committees were sensitised on the need for establishing reproductive and sexual health and rights and the need to promote gender sensitive and youth friendly services
This program helped CHSJ to deepen the need for collaboration, coordination and convergence between sectors emphasising their varying roles in helping to create enabling environments in which public information, communication and community outreach flourishes.
