COMMUNITY INTERVENTION THROUGH COLLECTIVE ACTION
CHSJ’s richness of work on engaging men and boys is founded on long journey of grass root level work involving men and boys and communities at large on transforming gender roles for gender equality. Community mobilization work of CHSJ lies in spirit of right base and participatory approach. Intensive field based work has been able to widen CHSJ’s horizons from community to national and national to global level on gender equality work. Community interventions and action research have strengthened through array of community meetings, direct talks, street theaters, cultural programmes, community marches, trainings, sensitization with men and boys at individual, family and community level. Efforts at every level have been to transforming social norms responsible for perpetuating masculinity and relegating subordinate position of women in society. The programmatic community level interventions have yielded several positive stories which are crystal-clear sings and symbols of development of new social norms of masculinity. CHSJ has been working in various communities of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh in close coordination with its implementing partners and network members.
CHSJ builds capacities of and offers knowledge with grass root partners and network members in employing best practices succeeded at global level in engaging men in dismantling patriarchy and achieving a balanced, equitable relationship between women and men on reproductive sexual health rights, distribution of care and household work and promoting girl education and valuing girls etc. In the domain of men and gender equality, CHSJ’s has been working with partners at field level under community interventions thematic area
Four days residential training with Animators and group members have organised in 'Bharat Mata Kalayan Mandap' Sisai- Gumla from 19-22 August 16 with the support of partner organisations (Srijan Foundation and Chotanagpur Sanskritic Sangh). Read more
